Galactic War Erupts in “Foundation” Season 3 This Summer on Apple TV+

Apple TV+’s ambitious sci-fi epic, Foundation, continues to grow. Returning for a third season, the series is more epic, visually stunning, and laden with monumental stakes. Loosely based on the works of Isaac Asimov, the show makes a grand comeback with a new batch of episodes that hint at a major shift in the galactic balance.

152 Years Later: The Empire Wobbles, the Foundation Rises

Season 3 unfolds over 150 years after the events of the previous season. The once marginal Foundation has now firmly established itself as a significant political and technological force, while the cloned Cleon Empire continues to crumble, plagued by its internal contradictions.

At the heart of this new dynamic, an unlikely alliance forms between the two powers. However, a common threat looms that could destroy them both: The Mule, a warlord as enigmatic as he is formidable, whose strategy combines brutal military power and mind control. This foe appears capable of toppling the galactic order, and even the predictions of Hari Seldon might not be enough.

The central characters of the saga are still present: Hari Seldon, Gaal Dornick, the Cleons, and Demerzel, each playing their part in a galaxy-wide chess game of strategy, betrayals, and sacrifices.

An Expanded Cast, Fresh Faces

This new season welcomes a host of prestigious new actors, including: Cherry Jones (Emmy Award winner), Troy Kotsur (Oscar winner for Best Supporting Actor in CODA), Pilou Asbæk (Game of Thrones), as well as Cody Fern, Brandon P. Bell, Synnøve Karlsen, Tómas Lemarquis, and Alexander Siddig. They join an already robust lineup featuring Laura Birn (Demerzel), Cassian Bilton, Terrence Mann, and Rowena King.

Foundation is produced for Apple TV+ by Skydance Television, with David S. Goyer leading the project as showrunner and executive producer. He is supported by a comprehensive team of producers, including Robyn Asimov, the daughter of the author of the series, who ensures the original spirit of the source material is preserved.
