In our review of the iopool probe, we noted several issues:

Essentially, after 2 years, you had to send the probe back for a significant fee (around 100€) and iopool would send you a new model, but with a new 2-year warranty.

The new model (which we received a few weeks ago) allows you to easily change the battery. The probe now has 4 screws that can be removed at home, allowing you to replace the batteries if they fail:

You can also replace the sensor, which now has a lifespan of 4 years. The new sensor costs about a hundred euros and can be replaced at home, without having to send the probe back.

This system is more environmentally friendly and requires very little DIY effort. Kudos to the iopool team for addressing feedback so swiftly! It’s worth noting that there are currently no RedOX sensors with an infinite lifespan… for now. Since these probes are constantly submerged in chlorinated water, they inevitably degrade after a few years.

WiFi Relay and Activity Measurement

Among the new features, we also have a new WiFi/Bluetooth gateway.

Featuring a brand-new design, it allows you to connect your EcO to your home Wi-Fi network. Without it, you’re limited to Bluetooth and no remote access: I highly recommend it!

This new model comes with an antenna, a USB cable (1.4 m), and notably, a suction cup for easy mounting on a window:

Finally, the mobile app linked to this new probe allows you to monitor pool activity. How often has it been used? Is someone currently swimming? This is an interesting data point, especially for those who feel their pool isn’t used much considering the expenses and maintenance…
