Just Hours Away from Ordering the iPhone 16e
On Wednesday late afternoon, Apple introduced its latest device, the iPhone 16e. Although many details were previously leaked, the iPhone 16e retains the design of the iPhone 14, featuring an edge-to-edge OLED display and a glass back. Moving away from the earlier SE models, it replaces the Home button and Touch ID with Face ID, marking the end of large bezel displays in Apple devices.
With its 6.1-inch display, Apple bids farewell to smaller models: the iPhone 16e is Apple’s largest affordable model to date. It permanently abandons the smaller sizes of the previous SE range, aligning with the sizes of the iPhone 15 and 16. Thanks to improved chip and battery optimization, it also promises better battery life compared to its predecessors.
Under the hood, the iPhone 16e features an A18 chip (which is slightly different from the iPhone 16’s) with a 6-core CPU (2 performance cores and 4 high-efficiency cores) and a 4-core GPU. Announced as compatible with Apple Intelligence, it is expected to come with 8 GB of RAM to support local operations.
The iPhone 16e boasts an improved camera sensor over the iPhone SE 3, though not as advanced as the iPhone 16’s. Despite having a single lens, it benefits from enhanced software processing and a more effective night mode, thus providing better quality photos in low light conditions.
Price and Availability
The iPhone 16e is positioned as the most budget-friendly option within the iPhone 16 lineup, starting at a somewhat pricey 719 euros. It is available in 2 colors and 3 storage options (128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB).
The launch is scheduled for 2 PM French time (be aware of potential server delays from Cupertino).
