At the heart of this generation – which you can read our full review on – the M4 chip promises a significant power boost. Expect 4K video editing, the creation of complex apps, and the new Apple Intelligence features integrated into macOS Sequoia.
The MacBook Air features a 13.6 or 15.3 inch Liquid Retina display with up to 500 nits of brightness, Touch ID, and Magic Keyboard. In terms of connectivity, it includes Wi-Fi 6E (which might cause some teeth grinding at the office) and Bluetooth 5.3. It also offers MagSafe charging, two Thunderbolt 4 ports for connecting accessories like external storage devices and security keys, as well as a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Compared to the previous generation, the MacBook Air M4 features a 10-core CPU and GPU and up to 32 GB of unified memory, making the new MacBook Air up to twice as fast as the model with the M1 chip
. All machines come standard with a 256 GB SSD and 16 GB of unified memory (compared to 8 GB previously), allowing for smoother handling of demanding software. It will, of course, be possible to upgrade to a 2 TB SSD and 32 GB of RAM for additional costs.

• Video editing in iMovie is up to 8 times faster than the fastest Intel MacBook Air and up to 2 times faster than the 13-inch MacBook Air with M1.
• Photo editing in Adobe Photoshop is up to 3.6 times faster than the fastest Intel MacBook Air and up to twice as fast as the 13-inch MacBook Air with M1.
• Web browsing is up to 60% faster compared to a laptop equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, and more demanding tasks are up to twice as fast.
In terms of style, Apple offers a new sky blue color, which some may find too subdued but which has its own appeal. You’ll also find the classic silver, starlight, and midnight. The MacBook Air M4 maintains its ultra-thin and light design while being more robust.
Big news for this generation, the MacBook Air M4 now supports up to two 6K external displays (in addition to its built-in display) — a first for an Air model! As for battery life, Apple promises up to 18 hours of use.
The webcam also sees significant improvement: the MacBook Air M4 adopts a 12 MP camera with Center Stage. This technology keeps you centered in the frame during video calls, automatically adjusting as you move. This feature is perfect for video conferences and professional presentations.
With macOS Sequoia, the MacBook Air M4 is of course compatible with Apple Intelligence. This suite of AI tools allows you to automate tasks, compose intelligent texts, and get instant answers thanks to artificial intelligence capabilities directly integrated into the system.
