Acer Unveils AI-Powered Smart Ring and Translator Earbuds!

Acer unveils two new connected devices at Computex 2025, the FreeSense Ring and AI TransBuds earphones, focusing heavily on artificial intelligence to penetrate the wearable market. Their goal includes health monitoring, real-time translation, and connected mobility.

A Health-Centric Connected Ring Without Subscription Fees

Acer has stepped into the health ring competition with its FreeSense Ring, a sector that is buzzing with activity. Crafted from ultra-light titanium alloy, it offers continuous monitoring of various physiological parameters: heart rate, heart rate variability, blood oxygen levels, and sleep quality. The associated mobile app gathers data, analyzes it with AI-enhanced algorithms, and provides personalized recommendations.

This product stands out by not requiring a subscription fee, an aspect likely to appeal to users turned off by the economic models of competitors like Oura. Waterproof, available in two colors and various sizes, it aims to be a discreet and accessible health tracking solution.

TransBuds: Live Bidirectional Translation with Mobile Assistance

The second innovation is the Acer AI TransBuds, translator earphones that support real-time voice translation in both directions. Only one person needs to wear them to activate the translation, thanks to optimized sound capture and processing based on voice recognition and semantic analysis. The system supports 15 major languages, with live transcription and subtitling, which is handy during meetings, while traveling, or even during a streaming session.

The setup includes a receiver that plugs into a smartphone or tablet, suggesting that most of the processing is offloaded to the mobile device. The battery life is modest (50 mAh per earbud), but the USB-C charging case (400 mAh) should help compensate. We will inform you of the pricing and release dates for these products when they become available.

Branching Out from PCs

These products are part of a broader strategy led by Acer Gadget, a subsidiary focused on non-traditional PC products. Already active in electric scooters and bicycles, the brand continues to strengthen its position in urban mobility and connected accessories. At Computex, Acer also showcased its eScooter Series 4 and 5 and the Predator ES Storm and eRanger bicycles. All can be controlled via a dedicated app, featuring safety functionalities and performance tracking. Acer is clearly aiming to diversify its portfolio: enhancing wellness, communication, and transportation, with a strong emphasis on AI. Why not indeed!
