Apple Fitness+ Boss Sued for Harassment: Shocking Details Revealed!

Apple is currently managing a crisis involving its Fitness head, Jay Blahnik, who faces accusations of abusive behavior towards his team. Following a complaint by an employee, Cupertino has denied any harassment and claims to maintain a positive and inclusive work culture.

Dual Legal Complaints

The New York Times reports that the controversy started with Mandana Mofidi, an employee who has taken both her superior and Apple to the Superior Court of Los Angeles County in 2024. She alleges she was subjected to intimidation and a toxic work environment under the leadership of Jay Blahnik, a former Nike executive who joined Apple in 2013 to lead its Fitness strategy and the Apple Fitness+ service.

Apple claims to have conducted an internal investigation and found no evidence of misconduct. The company suggests that the lawsuit may be a response to unresolved performance issues. The trial, however, is not set to begin until 2027.

Broader Allegations Within the Team

Beyond this individual lawsuit, the American media highlights some rather peculiar facts. It reports that about ten employees out of the hundred-man team led by Jay Blahnik have taken leaves of absence related to illness or mental health since 2022. These employees—who have chosen to remain anonymous—describe a harmful work environment, mentioning inappropriate remarks and a heavy atmosphere. Clearly, this is a far cry from the meditative breaks and serene ambiance that Cupertino usually promotes!

Worse still, Jay Blahnik is portrayed as somewhat of a tyrant. For instance, he reportedly publicly suggested that an Apple Fitness+ executive had been cheated on by his wife because their child had a different hair color. He is also accused of making inappropriate comments about a creative director, insinuating she had an affair with an Apple producer. Additionally, a message sent by Blahnik in 2022 to the same employee was considered disturbing.

Apple Strikes Back

Through its spokesperson Lance Lin, Apple expresses strong disagreement with the allegations reported by the media and promises to continue to disclose the facts throughout the legal proceedings. While not specifying which details are inaccurate, the company asserts its firm commitment to ensuring an inclusive and respectful work environment.

For Apple, the stakes are largely media-related as it aims to protect its brand image in the digital wellness sector, especially as Apple Fitness+ has become a key part of its services. However, things might change by the time of the first hearing.
