Apple Halts iPhone SE 4 Release, Launches Major Health Study!

No sign of the iPhone SE 4 yet, but Apple has made an official announcement in their newsroom, confirmed by Mark Gurman’s overnight report. Unfortunately for those anticipating new products, the announcement pertains to a medical matter!

A Comprehensive Approach to Health

Apple is taking a significant step forward in medical research by launching a major health study accessible through the Apple Research app. This effort aims to investigate how technology can influence physical, mental, and overall well-being, utilizing data from iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods.

This new study is touted as Apple’s most extensive to date. It seeks to examine the effects of technology on various health aspects, including cardiovascular and circulatory health, mental health and cognition, physical activity and mobility, sleep and metabolism, hearing and respiratory health, aging, and neurological health. It will also explore interactions between different health areas, such as the effect of mental health on heart rate or how sleep influences physical activity.

To achieve this, Apple will partner with Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a research center affiliated with Harvard Medical School, to ensure the study’s scientific rigor. This collaboration builds on Apple’s previous health initiatives, including studies on women’s health, hearing, and heart health. The company highlights findings from the Apple Women’s Health Study, the Apple Hearing Study, and the Apple Heart and Movement Study, which together have involved over 350,000 participants across the United States.

How to Get Involved

The study is open to U.S. residents who meet the eligibility criteria and have completed the informed consent process. Users can sign up now via the Apple Research app, available on the App Store. Note, this app is not available outside the USA. With this initiative, Apple continues to deepen its commitment to medical research and further explores how its devices can help improve the health and well-being of millions.
