A Key Role Seen in a New Light
Known for her chilling and mysterious performance in Severance, Ms. Casey quickly emerged as a pivotal character in the perplexing—and somewhat deviant—world created by Dan Erickson and produced by Ben Stiller. In this archival footage, Dichen Lachman performs two iconic scenes from the first season: the notable “wellness” session with Irving B., and the silent sequence where she watches Helly R. from a surveillance room.
What catches the eye of the most observant fans is the contrast in the portrayal of the character. During this audition, the actress adopts a more expressive, almost warm tone, which is vastly different from the robotic neutrality that would later define the character on screen. This shows that the character of Ms. Casey was refined throughout the development of the series—in terms of acting, editing, and writing.
There are also noticeable differences in the dialogue, with lines that were removed or rewritten between this audition and the aired version. These adjustments have enhanced the chilling and minimalist atmosphere of the series, which has captivated audiences since its debut on Apple TV+.
What’s the Status of Severance Season 3?
Officially renewed, Season 3 is currently in the works. Apple confirmed this following the broadcast of Season 2. A notable addition to the team is writer Beau Willimon (House of Cards, Andor), who has joined to lend a hand after the production challenges of the second season. He is expected to play a more significant role in crafting the upcoming episodes.
Showrunner Ben Stiller has recently reassured fans: they won’t have to wait three years like between Seasons 1 and 2. However, the latest estimates suggest a release around 2026 or even 2027… And that’s way too long!
