Baseus EnerGeek: A Power Bank That Doubles as a Hotspot!

At CES 2025, Baseus unveiled a versatile new device, the EnerGeek MiFi Power Bank. This innovative product merges a 20,000 mAh portable battery with a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot that supports 4G networks in over 100 countries. It is slated for release in April 2025 and will retail for $89.99.

A Dual-Purpose Device for Everyday Use

The EnerGeek MiFi Power Bank stands out with its dual functionality. It can charge up to four devices at once with its two USB-C ports, one USB-A port, and an integrated USB-C cable that also functions as a carrying handle. The maximum output power is 67 watts, which is adequate for smartphones and tablets, though it may not be sufficient for more power-hungry laptops.

Another key feature of this model is its ability to provide internet access to up to 10 devices via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connections. The advertised download speeds can reach up to 50 Mbps, depending on the quality of the mobile network used.

A discreet screen on the side of the device displays useful information such as remaining battery life, charging power, and Wi-Fi connection status. Baseus also notes that the device includes enhanced mechanisms for heat dissipation and optimized safety during use.

Built-in eSIM Technology

The mobile functionality of the EnerGeek relies on an integrated eSIM system, which can be activated through a dedicated app. Users can access custom data plans without the need for a fixed monthly subscription. Baseus promises international coverage on major networks, supporting 13 frequency bands, including those in the USA, Canada, Europe, and Asia.

The hotspot operates in dual Wi-Fi modes (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) and Bluetooth, offering straightforward data management through the mobile app. Specific details on data plan rates have not been disclosed yet, which will be an interesting point to review.

A More Traditional Battery Option

In addition to the EnerGeek, Baseus also introduced a more conventional 20,000 mAh battery, which lacks hotspot capabilities but offers 100 watts of power and includes two integrated USB-C cables. This model is priced at $99.99, slightly more expensive than the EnerGeek with built-in eSIM, possibly due to its higher power capacity.

With its appealing price and integrated eSIM, the EnerGeek MiFi Power Bank could attract a significant user base, particularly among those looking for a compact and convenient device to combine charging and connectivity while on the go. On paper, at least, the product seems quite appealing, and personally, the tech enthusiast in me is eager to get my hands on this gadget.
