Think the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro controller is a bit dull? ColorWare offers to repaint it completely in the colors of your choice. This detailed customization comes at a steep price, though.

ColorWare Takes On the Pro Controller
The process is straightforward: ColorWare purchases a brand-new official Pro controller on your behalf and disassembles it completely to paint each part separately with professional quality. You can choose everything: the main body color, the front plate, the buttons, and even the grips.
The customization options are extensive, as you can even have a small text or an emoji engraved on the top of the controller. Regrettably, the triggers are not customizable.
Who is ColorWare, the Customization King?
If you’re not familiar with ColorWare, you should know that it isn’t exactly a new player; we’ve mentioned them several times before. This American company has specialized in customizing high-end tech products for many years. They are particularly well-known in the Apple ecosystem.
They have painted nearly everything Apple has produced: from AirPods (sometimes with a “Retro” look inspired by old Macs) to Magic Mouses, Apple Pencils, and even MacBooks. Their catalog also includes consoles like the PS5 and Xbox, as well as headphones from major brands like Bose or Sony.
The Cost of Exclusivity (and Shipping Fees)
Naturally, this level of customization comes at a high cost. The basic service for the Switch 2 Pro controller starts at $139, and the price can go up to $180 depending on the options selected. That’s already twice the price of the official controller, which costs around 90 euros.
But the real kicker is the shipping fees. To have it delivered to France, you need to add an additional $46. All in all, the total can quickly exceed 220 euros for a single controller. Clearly, that’s a steep price.
What’s the Verdict?
The idea is cool, and the online configurator is very user-friendly. But the price is simply outrageous for just a controller. You end up paying more for the paint job than the electronic device itself.
I won’t lie, this type of service would make much more sense for me on the Switch 2 Joy-Cons. Currently, they are pretty unattractive and only available in one color. If ColorWare offered to customize them, then I might be tempted, as those are what you hold and see all the time. ColorWare has indeed already offered customization for the Switch 1 Joy-Cons. Would you be willing to pay over 200 euros for a unique controller?
