A Strategic Acquisition for Dailymotion
Dailymotion, a subsidiary of Canal+ Group, has just announced the purchase of Archery Inc., the company behind the Mojo app. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. It’s worth noting that Mojo is currently one of the most downloaded video editing apps globally, boasting over 50 million downloads. This acquisition aligns with the strategy to provide modern production tools for both amateur and professional content creators.
• Distribution: a global network of more than 5,000 monetized publishers, reaching 400 million monthly users.
• Monetization: proprietary technology that enables publishers and creators to generate substantial revenue.
• Creation: a program tailored for creators, featuring mentoring, advanced tools, monetization opportunities, and partnerships in editorial and technological fields.
Gradual Integration
Unlike some acquisitions, the Mojo app will continue to operate as an independent product. However, it will be gradually integrated into the Dailymotion platform. The current terms of use will remain unchanged for existing users, who will still be able to access Mojo as before. Nonetheless, they will now enjoy privileged access to the Dailymotion ecosystem, particularly in terms of content distribution and monetization.
For professionals, Mojo’s AI features will soon be incorporated into Dailymotion’s Pro offerings and its tools targeted at advertisers. The aim is to provide a comprehensive solution, from the creation of impactful short content to its distribution and monetization. This move positions Dailymotion to compete more aggressively with platforms like TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Reels.
