To wrap up the day with a hint of whimsy, Domino’s Pizza has launched a unique marketing venture! This summer, the company decided to innovate with a four-legged robot named Domidog, designed to deliver pizzas on the beaches of the United Kingdom while shielding them from the attacks of airborne predators.

Sci-Fi on the Sands? Oh, So British!
Seagulls and other such birds have long been a nuisance during seaside stays in Great Britain (and not just if you’ve seen that video from Monaco). To address this, Domino’s has initiated a novel test: a robotic dog, constructed using Boston Dynamics technology, capable of delivering pizzas while thwarting bird attacks.
Dubbed Domidog, this device can navigate sand or pebbles and weave through beachgoers with the aid of stereo cameras and smart sensors. Its primary task is to ensure the pizza reaches its recipient.
According to a survey referenced by Domino’s, seagulls rank among the top ten annoyances for beachgoers in the UK, right behind unsanitary restrooms and overcrowding (and presumably, this holds true for other destinations too). For Izzy Gardener, a spokesperson for Domino’s, we are always on the lookout for innovative new solutions to ensure that your pizzas arrive hot and fresh. Part Serious, Part Marketing Stunt
While the initiative smacks of a marketing stunt perfectly tailored for the summer season, it is nonetheless based on solid technology. Boston Dynamics platforms, often employed in industrial or military settings, are renowned for their agility and durability.
