Alcon Entertainment claims that Tesla approached them last minute to secure rights to use imagery from Blade Runner 2049 for the unveiling of its robotaxi. This request, made on the day of the event, was denied. Despite this, Elon Musk reportedly displayed an AI-created image that mirrored iconic scenes from the film, including a man’s silhouette against a post-apocalyptic backdrop. Alcon believes this move was intended to link their film’s image with Tesla’s product without permission.
An Unwanted Association Between Blade Runner and Elon Musk
The lawsuit filed by Alcon also highlights concerns about Elon Musk’s sometimes controversial public image.
