Elon Musk Unveils Optimus, the Revolutionary Humanoid Robot!

Late at night (or very early this morning), Tesla showcased its latest innovations in a typically grand American-style event, of course led by Elon Musk! Alongside the unveiling of its Cybercab and a new robovan, the entrepreneur also introduced Optimus, the humanoid robot, which he proclaimed as “the greatest product of all time.”

Rock-Paper-Scissors!

To demonstrate their capabilities, Elon Musk strategically placed several Optimus robots around the venue during the event. These robots were seen serving drinks to attendees, handing out small gift bags, and even playing rock-paper-scissors with some of the guests.

While the demonstration was undoubtedly entertaining, some felt it fell short of the ambitious technical promises previously made by the billionaire. Last year, Musk revealed an improved version of the bot, promising it would start performing useful tasks by the end of this year.

A Revolutionary Impact

Elon Musk has high hopes for his robot, predicting it will bring about a fundamental transformation for civilization. He also suggested that it could significantly aid in production and the economy, potentially being produced in large quantities, perhaps millions of units. He believes these robots could foster a future where there is no poverty.

During the event, Musk also asked guests to be kind, which raised a few eyebrows: was this a cautionary note—perhaps because Optimus isn’t as durable as expected (or maybe it’s still just a prototype and not the final version)? Or was it an appeal to treat these mechanical beings with compassion? Indeed, the billionaire described the robot as simply your friend.

Price and Availability

In terms of cost, the head of Tesla announced a price range of $20,000 to $30,000 to purchase Optimus, which is relatively affordable for a humanoid robot of this type in industrial use, but quite expensive for household use. He also hinted that these robots could be available for purchase by the end of next year.
