The movie Alien: Romulus, released in August 2024, will be available in a limited edition VHS format starting December 3, 2024. This remarkable initiative brings the iconic magnetic tape of the 80s and 90s into the modern era. The release of this film on VHS tape will also include a 4:3 format version, reminiscent of the old cathode ray tube screens that were once a staple in our homes. This inventive idea is part of a current trend where retro formats like vinyl and cassette tapes are making a comeback, much to the delight of collectors.

A Retro Case Design

This special edition was announced by 20th Century Studios at a screening in partnership with Beyond Fest in Los Angeles. The case, designed by artist Matt Ferguson, features an 80s retro aesthetic. to immerse Alien enthusiasts in a visual experience right from the moment they receive the box. In addition to this VHS version, the film will also be available on more modern formats such as 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD on the same day.
