A Robotic Companion to Soothe You
Moflin is Casio’s latest creation: a robot built to provide comfort. Unlike other robots like Sony’s Aibo, which follows its owner around, Moflin is meant to be held and cuddled. It sports an especially comforting appearance, resembling a furry sausage-shaped hamster. Equipped with artificial intelligence, because it’s trendy, this robot can recognize the person who interacts with it the most and develop a simulated relationship through unique
sounds and movements. It will thus become your ultimate technological friend for soothing stress. Check out the video; it’s pretty weird when the thing moves.
Limited Availability
Developed in collaboration with the Japanese startup Vanguard Industries, Moflin is currently only available in Japan for about 380 euros. For now, there is no official information about a possible release in Europe. If you’re looking for a unique gadget, it could be an excellent buy to bring back from your next trip to Japan! It is designed to be user-friendly, with a focus on human interaction rather than on complex and unnecessary features.
Mental Well-being First
Moflin is more than just a piece of technology. Its movements and sounds are specifically designed to provide a sense of comfort and calm. The robot’s artificial intelligence enables it to recognize its owner through voice and physical interactions. All this aims to create a personalized experience, where Moflin develops a unique relationship with each user. Even better than a cat—with no litter box needed. It should be noted that its simulated emotions, like joy or anxiety, are not expressed directly but can be observed via a dedicated mobile app. The application also allows users to adjust settings such as the volume of the sounds it makes.
And It Comes With a Little Bed!
Moflin comes with a bed that doubles as a charging station, and that’s just adorable. A full charge allows the robot to operate for about five hours. Casio also offers an annual subscription service for around 42 euros, providing discounts on repairs, cleaning, and even a complete replacement of the fur if necessary. It’s somewhat equivalent to the health insurance you might get for your pet, actually.
Well, it’s pretty cute, isn’t it? Let’s just hope the AI doesn’t suggest it attack you in your sleep!
