Nationwide DTT Outage: Technical Operation on the Night of June 5 to 6
All DTT channels will experience a brief interruption from the night of Thursday, June 5 to Friday, June 6. This is due to Arcom’s implementation of a new channel numbering system, a necessary technical operation to accommodate the latest developments in the broadcasting landscape. The interruption will occur around 1 a.m., according to the regulatory authority, and will result in a black screen or a no signal message across all channels. The goal: to ensure a smooth transition across the country while minimizing the impact on viewers.
A Quick Switch
Arcom assures that the interruption will last only a few minutes. All affected broadcasting groups have been officially informed and prepared for this operation. Although the switch is scheduled for 1 a.m., the authority notes that the maximum expected duration is about one hour, with no major incidents anticipated. This type of operation has been tested in previous similar events, and the procedure is expected to be well-established. Afterward, the black screen or informational messages will disappear, making way for the new channel lineup.
A Completely Revised Channel Grid
As of June 6, several channels will be switching positions. Notably: France 4 will move to the slot previously occupied by Canal+ on channel 4, LCP-Public Sénat will take over channel 8, and Gulli will replace NRJ12 on channel 12. The news channels BFMTV, CNEWS, LCI, and Franceinfo will now be grouped together on channels 13 to 16. T18, a new addition from the CMI group, will debut on channel 18. NOVO19, a channel from the Ouest-France group, will launch on September 1 on channel 19. The renumbering aims to create a more coherent viewing experience for free TV offerings and to increase visibility for new entrants.
What Viewers Need to Do
No specific action is required from viewers for this transition. In most cases, the set-top box or TV will automatically update the channel grid. If this does not happen, a simple manual channel search will suffice. Arcom emphasizes that this operation is designed to enhance the accessibility and clarity of the DTT offering without significantly disrupting the user experience. In short, a few minutes of patience will be enough to get your channels back, albeit in a slightly different order.
