Google has updated its Gemini app on iOS to enhance the user experience on the iPad. While there isn’t a dedicated iPadOS app, this redesign allows the AI assistant to fully utilize the tablet’s screen and introduces several new features that users have been anticipating.

Gemini Fully Embraces the iPad
Since its inception, the Gemini app has been compatible with both the iPhone and iPad. However, the tablet version was previously confined to a smaller iPhone-like interface, which limited the user experience (much like Instagram). With today’s latest update, Gemini finally offers an interface tailored for the iPad, utilizing the entire screen for a smoother and more immersive experience.
The update isn’t just about visual optimization (though that’s a big part). It also introduces several important features, such as full-screen display on the iPad to make use of the available space, the addition of a home screen widget for quick access to Gemini, direct connection to Google Photos, which simplifies using one’s images in conversations with the AI, and various user interface improvements and bug fixes for more stable operation.
A Versatile and Integrated AI Assistant
The Gemini application allows users to tap into Google’s AI power on both iPhone and iPad. It connects to popular services such as Google Search, YouTube, Gmail, and Google Maps.
Its features include intelligent search, image generation, study tools, as well as assistance with brainstorming and idea creation. Essentially, everything we’d hope to see with Apple Intelligence! With this extensive integration, Gemini positions itself as a comprehensive digital assistant, capable of aiding users in a variety of personal and professional tasks.
A Freemium Model with an Advanced Version
Gemini is available for free, but accessing enhanced capabilities through Gemini Advanced requires a subscription to the Google One AI Premium, priced at €21.99/month (with the first month free). This rate is competitive compared to other market solutions like those offered by Anthropic and OpenAI.
