Angry Birds Makes an Exclusive Return on Apple Arcade
Three years after Angry Birds Journey, Rovio is reviving its flagship franchise with Angry Birds Bounce, the first installment developed since its acquisition by Sega in 2023. Scheduled for release on July 3 on Apple Arcade, the game retains the slingshot principle while introducing a vertical dynamic inspired by brick-breaker games.
The game also features the largest character roster in the series, including new additions like Gordon, inspired by Canadian themes, and Jo, the franchise’s first non-binary bird. This represents a symbolic and marketing shift for Rovio as it seeks to modernize its universe.
Brick-Breaker and Rogue-Lite: The Vertical Challenge
With its rogue-lite mechanics, Angry Birds Bounce refreshes its formula: levels are generated with strategic variants, shots require precision and combos are built in-flight. Birds assemble into squadrons for more effective strikes against enemies, turning the traditional battle against pigs into a rhythmically paced clash with bonuses, power-ups, and bouncing trajectories. The result is a more intense gameplay designed for short but engaging sessions.
The Incredible Kingdom Rush 5 Arrives Too!
Another major release for this Apple Arcade launch, Kingdom Rush 5: Alliance TD+ marks the return of Ironhide Studio with an enhanced version of its legendary series. For the first time, two heroes can be used simultaneously in each mission, creating unprecedented synergies. With 15 heroes, 17 types of towers, and a 22-level campaign, the content is rich. The game maintains the absurd humor and fast pace that made the series famous, but adds a superior level of customization and strategy.

A Busy Month for Apple Arcade
Angry Birds Bounce and Kingdom Rush 5 are part of a batch of four new titles joining Apple Arcade on July 3, along with Suika Game+, a successful fruity puzzle game, and Crayola Scribble Scrubbie Pets+, aimed at younger audiences. All games are offered without ads or in-app purchases, available on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Vision Pro, through the monthly subscription of $6.99 or the Apple One plans.
What’s the Verdict?
Indeed, discovering a new installment of Angry Birds is quite enjoyable, no complaints there. But Kingdom Rush 5… Oh my, what an incredible game, believe me! The game has been available for a few months in a paid version for non-subscribers. I play it constantly, just like every installment in the series since the first one released in 2011—making us feel quite nostalgic. If you haven’t tried it, I urge you to do so with your Apple Arcade subscription starting July 3. I’m sure you’ll love it!
