The iPhone 16 at $889!
The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are equipped with the new A18 chip, etched at 3nm and featuring a 16-core Neural Engine, which is twice as fast (essential for AI). The A18 includes 6 CPU cores (2 high-performance and 4 efficiency cores), and 5 GPU cores. It is 30% faster than the iPhone 15 in CPU performance and 40% faster in GPU performance! Another new feature is the much-talked-about Photo button called Camera Control
, which is a tactile button covered by sapphire that allows you to take a photo with a single click.
Regarding photography, the arrangement of sensors in a pill shape remains. The sensor stays at 48MP, ƒ1.6, 2 microns per pixel. We maintain the 2x zoom (within the sensor), which is equivalent to 52mm.
The central 48 MP sensor can offer a 2x telephoto option with full-resolution photos but at 12 MP. Faster aperture at f/1.6, capturing 1.6 times more light than before. The iPhone 16 is actually able to merge a 48 MP and 12 MP photo that balances light quality and image details into a 24 MP image.
We can also count on 4k60 video recordings with Dolby Vision HDR. The second sensor is an ultra-wide angle of 12 MP at f/2.2, equivalent to a focal length of 13mm. Apple announces 1.4 microns per pixel. The iPhone 16 introduces a new ultra-wide sensor (12 MP), with autofocus. Video remains in 4K60 Dolby Vision.
