Mark your calendars for September 9th, when Apple will take the stage to unveil the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro, along with the Apple Watch X and the latest AirPods. But, as always, there are likely more surprises in store.
iPhone 16 and Apple Watch X: Big Changes Ahead

The star of the show will undoubtedly be the iPhone 16. All four models will support Apple Intelligence and include the Action Button, a feature previously reserved for the iPhone 15 Pro lineup. There’s also a new Capture Button on the way, making it easier than ever to snap photos and videos. On top of that, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will feature larger displays, bumping up to 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, respectively.
Photography enthusiasts can also rejoice—both the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will now come equipped with a 5x telephoto lens, while an ultra-wide 48-megapixel camera will give users even more creative flexibility.
As for the Apple Watch, it’s hard to believe it’s been almost a decade since the original hit the market. To celebrate this milestone, Apple is gearing up to introduce the Apple Watch X (yes, they’re going with “X” to mark the occasion). The new version will feature larger displays, ranging from 45 to 49 millimeters, a significant size increase compared to the Series 9. Interestingly, despite the size upgrade, the Watch X will be thinner than its predecessors.
While the new design is exciting, don’t expect too many groundbreaking new features—rumors suggest this year’s updates are more focused on aesthetics than functionality.
Macs and iPads: What to Expect (and What Not to)
Apple might also treat us to a new iPad lineup next week. While a new standard iPad seems likely, the iPad Mini might finally get the refresh it deserves after nearly three years without updates. However, don’t count on seeing the iPad Air or iPad Pro at this event—those were already released earlier this year.

As for Apple’s Mac lineup, updates are coming, but not just yet. According to insider Mark Gurman, the new MacBook Pro 14 and 16-inch models, as well as the Mac Mini and iMac equipped with the M4 chip, will be announced in October, with a release scheduled for November.
New AirPods on the Horizon?

At WWDC 2024, Apple teased some exciting new features for AirPods. This time, the company is expected to roll out fresh versions of its iconic wireless earbuds, starting with two variations of the fourth-generation AirPods. The first will be a more budget-friendly option with a refreshed design and USB-C support, while the second will offer active noise cancellation and the Find My feature integrated into the case.
Fans of over-ear headphones can also look forward to the updated AirPods Max. Four years after their initial release, the new version is set to include a USB-C port, Apple’s H2 chip, and improved battery life, along with enhancements for spatial audio.
Who Won’t Be Making an Appearance
Despite the buzz surrounding it, the iPhone SE 4 won’t be making an appearance next week. Initially rumored to launch in early 2025, the more affordable iPhone won’t be unveiled until later this year—possibly in January. The third-generation AirPods Pro, a new Apple TV, and the updated HomePod mini are also likely to skip this event.
Now that you’re caught up on the latest Apple rumors, mark your calendar for Monday, September 9th, at 10 AM PT to see what Cupertino has in store. What are you most excited to see unveiled?
