iPhone Air Unveiled: Discover the Ultra-Thin Model’s Exciting New Features!

The spotlight of the evening finally shines on a slightly renamed star: introducing the iPhone Air!

Sleek and Slim!

The latest addition to the family boasts an impressively slim profile with a 5.6 mm thickness, a 6.5″ OLED Super Retina XDR display featuring ProMotion and an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 Hz (similar to the iPhone 17), always-on display capabilities adjusting down to 1 Hz, and a peak brightness of 3000 nits. It’s powered by an A19 Pro chip (like the iPhone 17 Pro, though it’s rumored to be slightly limited) with 5 GPU cores and 6 CPU cores, Apple’s upgraded C1X modem chip (an evolution of the C1 from the iPhone 16e), and a brand-new N1 chip supporting Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread.

To shield it from everyday mishaps and the elements, Apple has equipped the iPhone Air with Ceramic Shield 2, both on the front and the back of the device. This new coating, designed by Apple, provides triple the scratch resistance and enhanced anti-reflective properties to reduce glare.

The chips were designed to be as energy-efficient as possible, a fact that Cupertino does not hesitate to highlight, proclaiming that the iPhone Air is the most power-efficient iPhone ever made.

On the photography front, the camera features a single 48 MP sensor, combining a 26mm and 52mm equivalent (12MP). The front camera boasts 18MP, similar to the iPhone 17, which might enhance selfie quality. Users can now record two videos simultaneously (front and back cameras), and the specs also include Dolby Vision 4K60 fps video. Despite some rumors, the smartphone indeed supports Face ID, which is integrated into the front camera module through TrueDepth technology.

Lastly, Apple confirms that the device will only support eSIM (no surprise given its dimensions), meaning there is no physical SIM tray. On its French website, Apple states that the iPhone Air is activated with an eSIM and does not support physical SIM cards. Using an eSIM requires a carrier that supports eSIM and a mobile plan. Apple also promises a full day’s battery life, similar to the iPhone 17, though real-world usage may vary.

The iPhone Air will be available in four finishes: space black, cloud white, light gold, and sky blue. Pre-orders start on Friday, September 12, with availability beginning Friday, September 19. Apple offers three storage options ranging from 256GB (priced at €1229), 512GB (€1479), to a whopping 1TB (at €1729).
