Welcome to the Era of Wi-Fi 7
Netgear is stepping up to Wi-Fi 7 (or 802.11be) with the Orbi 970, the next generation set to deliver astonishing performance improvements for wireless networks while reducing latency. Indeed, Wi-Fi 7 is expected to significantly outperform its predecessors by using the same number of antennas and frequency bands (2.4/5 and 6 GHz) as Wi-Fi 6/Wi-Fi 6E, but with channels up to 320 MHz wide, compared to the previous 160 MHz standard.
With theoretical speeds exceeding 40 Gb/s, equivalent to Thunderbolt 4, it offers a genuine wireless alternative to current wired technologies like USB, Thunderbolt, or Ethernet.
Netgear Orbi 970: The Ultimate Solution?
With the new Orbi 970 models, Netgear promises speeds up to 27 Gb/s, coverage up to 900 square meters (with a three-unit pack), and the Multi Link Operation (MLO) technology, which combines a dedicated 5 GHz band with a 6 GHz band to achieve a 10 Gb/s Wi-Fi backhaul
wirelessly between the base and satellites. There are twelve antennas, a 10 GbE WAN port, a 10 GbE LAN port, and four 2.5 GbE ports on the base unit, with each satellite featuring a 10 GbE port and two 2.5 GbE ports (each satellite can extend coverage by an additional 300 square meters).
In short, it’s everything you need for a stable and high-performing network, even within a vast property.
