Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji made their live-action debut on Netflix, continuing their quest to find the legendary One Piece. Adapting Eiichiro Oda’s iconic manga into a live-action series was no easy feat. Although opinions were divided on the first season, the show quickly gained a solid fanbase, prompting Netflix to greenlight a second season. Here’s everything we know so far about what’s coming in One Piece Season 2.
Is There Going to Be a Season 2 of One Piece?
There was little doubt even before the show premiered, but it became official on September 14, 2023. Netflix confirmed the news through a teaser featuring Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece.

What Is the Potential Release Date for One Piece Season 2?
Like many productions in 2023, Netflix faced delays due to the writers’ and actors’ strikes. These strikes affected the timeline for One Piece Season 2, but surprisingly, Marty Adelstein, CEO of Tomorrow Studios (the production company behind the show), revealed in a Variety interview that the scripts were ready and filming could begin within 12 to 18 months once conditions allowed.

Filming is already underway in Cape Town, South Africa, which hints that One Piece Season 2 could hit screens by mid-2025. We’ll update this article as soon as Netflix confirms an official release date.
What Will One Piece Season 2 Be About?
The story will continue in the East Blue saga, where Luffy’s crew is expected to visit Loguetown—famously known as the place where Gol D. Roger, the Pirate King, was executed. Luffy will likely encounter Smoker, a mysterious Marine captain teased at the end of Season 1.
Season 2 will also see the crew traveling through Reverse Mountain (which sits at the junction of the world’s four seas), Whiskey Peak (where they’ll battle Baroque Works, a secretive bounty hunter organization), Little Garden, and Drum Island.
Among the Baroque Works agents, viewers will meet Princess Nefertari Vivi, who is undercover as Miss Wednesday. If the show sticks closely to the original manga, Vivi will become a valuable ally to the Straw Hat Pirates, leading them to Alabasta. This arc may be the focus of Season 3, depending on how much of the story is covered in Season 2.

Other familiar faces like Vincent Regan (Garp), Morgan Davies (Koby), Aidan Scott (Helmeppo), Jeff Ward (Buggy), and Ilia Isorelýs Paulino (Alvida) may also return.
In June 2024, Netflix announced some of the first new cast members for Baroque Works, including:

- Camrus Johnson as Mr. 5
- Daniel Lasker as Mr. 9
Additional characters confirmed include:

It remains unclear if Luffy’s father, Dragon, will make an appearance in Loguetown, as he did in the manga and anime, or if the show will introduce him later. Fans are also waiting to see if Nico Robin and Chopper will join the crew in Season 2 or if their introductions will be saved for Season 3.
One thing’s for sure—there’s plenty to look forward to in the next chapter of One Piece!
