Will You Splurge on the iPhone 16e?
The iPhone 16e comes with a 6.1-inch OLED display, an A18 chip etched at 3 nm compatible with Apple Intelligence, Face ID, and an Action button. It’s also the first iPhone to feature the Apple C1 modem (supports 4G, 5G, and WiFi 6). However, it lacks a Home button and a Lightning port, instead sporting USB-C.
Under the hood, the iPhone 16e includes an A18 chip (which isn’t quite the same as the iPhone 16) with a 6-core CPU (2 performance cores and 4 high-efficiency cores) and a 4-core GPU. Announced as compatible with Apple Intelligence, it should come with 8 GB of RAM to run it locally.
It is the first iPhone (and Apple product) to benefit from its in-house chip. Indeed, after years of research, Apple has designed its own modem intended to meet the very specific needs of iPhone users
and does not plan to compete with Qualcomm, particularly with the Snapdragon X75 of iPhone 16. The C1 chip supports 4G, 5G, and WiFi 6, but does not support millimeter-wave 5G or WiFi 7 (hence its absence in the iPhone 16e).

It features a 2-in-1 camera system (48 MP Fusion Camera: 26 mm, f/1.6 aperture, optical image stabilization, hybrid Focus Pixels, super high-resolution photos in 24 MP and 48 MP, with a 12 MP 2x telephoto lens, optical image stabilization, and up to 10x digital zoom).
The iPhone 16e has an improved camera sensor compared to the iPhone SE 3, but it is significantly weaker than that of the iPhone 16. Although it retains a single lens, it benefits from enhanced software processing and a more effective night mode, thus delivering better quality low-light photos.

The iPhone 16e positions itself as the most accessible option in the iPhone 16 lineup, with a starting price that’s more affordable, yet still quite expensive (far too much so), starting at 719 euros! It’s available in 2 colors and 3 storage options (128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB).
