Diamond batteries powered by nuclear waste promise 28,000 years of clean energy
Will they maintain the brand’s DNA while meeting expectations for compactness, battery life, and even macOS compatibility? After about ten days of taking them on the road, in the car, and to the office, here are my thoughts!
Unboxing Experience
Each product comes in its own separate box and can be purchased individually. They feature the brand’s signature design with a sleek matte black packaging and vibrant green accents, including the famous logo in the upper right corner. The product image is covered with a glossy film, giving it a highly polished look.
In terms of unboxing, the company has chosen a small recyclable folded cardboard drawer system that unfolds to reveal the well-protected product (convenient for those who prefer online shopping or home delivery). Inside the mouse box, you’ll find a black USB-C / USB-C plastic cable in a separate compartment.
The keyboard box contains several matte black printed manuals, stickers for fans, and a high-quality 60W black woven USB-C / USB-C cable, which is far superior to that of the mouse.
Basilisk Mobile: Small Yet Mighty
Here we encounter a familiar silhouette, but noticeably lighter. The Basilisk range is well known to gamers, and with the Basilisk Mobile, Razer offers a more compact version without sacrificing the ergonomics that the series is known for. The grip is immediate for those accustomed, despite a reduced size (111.5 x 75.9 x 41.4 mm and weighing 76 g), designed for mobility.
For my part, I particularly appreciated its size. As you can see in the photo; the mouse seems designed for my apple palm, which isn’t very large.
A Clearly Recognizable Design
As you can see, the design of the Basilisk Mobile is clearly intended for right-handers, with a pronounced thumb rest on the left side and well-positioned buttons.
In hand, the textured plastic provides a good balance: neither too slippery nor too rough, it ensures a stable and pleasant grip, even during long sessions. The design remains true to the Razer aesthetic, with a discreet but customizable RGB backlighting located at the wheel and logo level—just enough to show your preference without going overboard.

Admittedly, it remains quite large for a so-called mobile mouse, but this form factor will please those who do not want to sacrifice comfort for compactness.
How to Program Your Razer Basilisk Mobile
Razer has integrated ten programmable buttons, a real asset for FPS or MOBA enthusiasts, but also for users of macros or office shortcuts. All are reconfigurable via Razer Synapse, including on macOS. A significant advance, even though some advanced functions are better supported on Windows.
To configure the buttons, you will need to use the Razer Synapse software (downloadable here) and ensure that the mouse’s firmware is up-to-date (via Synapse as well). In the app, the Basilisk Mobile should automatically appear on the main interface. Just go to the Customize tab, to get a diagram of the mouse with all the buttons numbered.
Then, just choose a button to modify (left, wheel, side click, sniper button, etc.) and assign it a role: mouse functions (right click, middle click, wheel, etc), keyboard functions (any key or combination of keys), Macro (useful for quick editing), launching applications or web links (to always have Mac4ever at hand), System Command: volume, brightness, media control, etc.
You can also create a macro via the Macro tab and finally save a profile (up to 5 in the mouse’s internal memory). Note that it is possible to associate a profile with a specific application (e.g., a Final Cut profile…). Some buttons can be configured to change profiles instantly, very handy for switching between a gaming mode and an office mode without restarting the application.
And AI Too
The mouse features a Razer Focus X 18K optical sensor, which is very responsive, with high precision and imperceptible latency, whether in Bluetooth or via the Razer HyperSpeed dongle. The latter ensures a really stable wireless connection.
Note that the latest version Razer Synapse 4 integrates a new feature called AI Prompt Master, designed to enhance the gaming experience through artificial intelligence. This feature allows for generating customized strategies or optimizing texts using an AI engine.
The user can choose between ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot as the artificial intelligence engine. In terms of features, AI Prompt Master offers text reformulation (for example, a tactical phrase or a team message), summarization, or even the generation of new content such as strategies, messages, or tips.
The content produced can be customized according to several criteria: length, tone (professional, friendly, informal…) and complexity level. The tool aims to offer a strategic advantage by providing quick, contextualized suggestions tailored to different games.
Moreover, AI Prompt Master can also be used for content creation for streaming (Twitch, YouTube, Discord, etc.) or for accessibility and rapid communication functions, making it easier to prepare short messages, translated or simplified, usable on the fly during games.
Record Battery Life
Razer promises up to 105 hours of battery life in HyperSpeed mode, and up to 180 hours in Bluetooth. In practice, these figures are quite realistic: after a full week of mixed use (day job, evening gaming sessions), the battery was far from the critical threshold.
This battery life allows for confident mobile use, especially since the mouse is light enough to slip into a laptop bag. Charging is always done via USB-C, but it can be
