DJI has entered the portable battery and solar power market somewhat late (we reviewed the DJI Power 500 and DJI Power 1000 last year), yet the company might carve out its niche in the coming years with some innovative offerings.
The Chinese manufacturer has indeed launched two fast chargers that enable quick battery recharging on the go, with and without solar panels:
• A super-fast vehicle charger of 1 kW
These products are primarily aimed at those who need to use batteries while mobile, and who own a vehicle. Indeed, these batteries take a long time to charge using just a 12V port, and many people prefer to connect them directly to a solar panel. Thus, these chargers offer both options.
1.8 kW DJI Power Super Fast Solar/Vehicle Charger
The 1.8 kW DJI Power super fast solar/vehicle charger supports simultaneous connections to solar panels and the RV’s alternator, delivering up to 1,200 W of solar power and 600 W of continuous power for the vehicle.
It can quickly recharge two Power 1000s and an extension battery, reaching a capacity of 1,024 Wh in about 40 minutes of driving. Additionally, it can also connect to the RV’s battery and recharge it using Power 1000 to prevent any discharge, thereby achieving smart bidirectional charging and extending the vehicle’s battery capacity. Lastly, the Power 1000 can be paired with a 2,048 Wh extension battery to provide a backup battery of 3,072 Wh and an output power of 2,400 to 2,600 W.
1 kW DJI Power Rapid Solar/Vehicle Charger
The super-fast 1.8 kW charger can connect to solar panels via the XT90 port, to provide a maximum solar power of 1,800 W to quickly recharge a Power 1000 and an extension battery.
It’s worth noting that the Power 1000 can be paired with up to five DJI Power Expansion Battery 2000 of 2,048 Wh, providing up to 11,264 Wh of backup capacity. Using the super-fast charger and solar panels to fully recharge them ensures you have electricity even during unexpected power outages,
DJI explains.
The 1.8 kW super-fast solar/vehicle charger is suitable for 12 V or 24 V car systems. The input voltage at the vehicle charging terminals should not exceed 45 V. It is not water or dust-resistant.
Lastly, DJI notes that these chargers can be used to recharge batteries faster at home (though not with direct injection). It’s not yet equivalent to a connected inverter like the EcoFlow PowerStream, but such products might soon be on the horizon!
