A Plane in Fallout?
According to Deadline, Macaulay Culkin has joined the cast of the hit Prime Video series in a recurring role. The second season will continue to be based on the video game series by Bethesda Game Studios. Jonathan Nolan, Lisa Joy, Geneva Robertson-Dworet, and Graham Wagner are on board as producers.
Although his career had its challenges after his iconic role as Kevin McCallister, in recent years, he has appeared in several productions. He voiced a character in Prime Video’s animated series The (2nd) Best Hospital in the Galaxy
. He also played a significant role in FX’s American Horror Story: Double Feature
and made an appearance in The Righteous Gemstones
on HBO.
An Apocalyptic Ambiance
It was on April 10th that this bizarre, post-apocalyptic world was unveiled. Without giving away all the details, the first episode sets up an alternate history post-World War II: the Earth has been devastated by nuclear explosions in the 1950s. Two centuries later, what has become of the inhabitants?
Indeed, many survivors took refuge in nuclear fallout shelters, known as vaults
, which were built to protect humanity in such scenarios. However, the reality is more grim, as each bunker also serves to conduct experiments on its occupants.
The first season followed Lucy MacLean, a resident of Vault 33, and her quest to find her father, portrayed by the unforgettable Kyle MacLachlan, in a desolate, ruined Los Angeles. Along the way, she encounters a squire from the Brotherhood of Steel and a ghoul bounty hunter.
The adaptation was generally faithful to the major themes of the game, but it was not an exact transcription. Set in 2296, nine years after the release of Fallout 4—the latest installment—the series makes some deviations from the event timeline. Thus, we see: survival after a global nuclear war, emergence of numerous ecosystem/fauna/flora changes with mutant creatures (like giant cockroaches that eat humans), armored warriors, cybernetic entities, as well as botched experiments and the rise of a manipulative international corporation, Vault-Tec
.
