Stephen King Ditches ‘Toxic’ X for Threads, and He’s Not Alone!

Is this the beginning of the end, or just a deeper plunge into chaos? Since Elon Musk’s acquisition, the former Twitter has faced numerous challenges: restructuring, layoffs, the end of moderation, evictions from premises, and government investigations. With Musk’s recent appointment to the Department of Government Efficiency (Doge), it appears that things are escalating even further.

Slamming Doors!

It all started when the British newspaper The Guardian announced that it would stop publishing its articles on X. It was soon followed by Spain’s La Vanguardia, and then by Sweden’s Dagens Nyheter, which cited an increasingly “harsh and extreme” environment. Essentially, they criticize the platform for aligning too closely with the political ambitions of Elon Musk and Donald Trump.

DN’s editor-in-chief Peter Wolodarski explained on X: Since its takeover by Elon Musk, the platform has increasingly merged with his political ambitions and those of Donald Trump, while the climate on X has become harsher and more extreme. As a result, we will no longer publish anything on this site from our official accounts for now.

But they’re not alone. In recent days, institutions, media outlets (both mainstream and tabloid), celebrities, and other official accounts have withdrawn. Some do not hesitate to call X a “lost platform,” preferring to move to Threads or Bluesky.

Enough is Enough!

For Stephen King—who is no stranger to horror and terror—it’s over. Constantly clashing with Elon Musk since he bought Twitter, he has finally decided to leave and move to Threads. The famous author has just announced to his 7 million followers his departure from X, along with an invitation to join him on the rival platform.

Previously, the author had vocally opposed Musk, notably on a previous Halloween in 2022, over the issue of badge pricing.
