On Thursday, December 12, King Charles III made a notable visit to Apple’s UK headquarters and the new Apple Store, both situated in London’s historic Battersea Power Station. This event highlighted the connections between Apple, the British creative community, and educational initiatives supported by “The King’s Trust,” a charity established by the king to assist youth in developing essential skills such as coding.
A Landmark Event at a Historic Site
In 2023, the Battersea Power Station was transformed into Apple’s UK headquarters and played host to Apple employees from across the nation for this special occasion. Students from the nearby St. George’s primary school also participated, showcasing their iPad drawings. These artworks were projected onto the power station’s iconic chimneys, which are usually known for displaying Wallace and Gromit animations.
Engaging with the Local Community
For this special occasion, Apple CEO Tim Cook was present to welcome the royal guest. King Charles III interacted with Apple employees and attendees of educational programs funded by his initiative, “The King’s Trust.” These programs aim to equip the youth with the necessary tools for success in fields such as technology and creativity. The King also met with British artists, underscoring the pivotal role of creativity in fostering collaborations between Apple and the local culture.
Exclusive Performance by RAYE
The visit concluded with a special performance by the award-winning British artist RAYE. This reflects Apple’s commitment to supporting educational and cultural initiatives while strengthening its ties with the local community and the broader UK. King Charles’s role in promoting education and innovation was also highlighted during this memorable event.
“We were honored to host His Majesty King Charles at Apple Battersea – our home in the UK – and are proud to support The King’s Trust in its crucial work of educating and empowering the youth. We look forward to our continued growth here, building on more than 40 years of history in the UK,” stated Tim Cook.
This visit not only celebrated Apple’s ongoing partnership with the UK but also emphasized the importance of integrating technology with education and community engagement.
