What’s New in France’s “Mon Espace Santé”? Discover the Latest Updates!

The government is fast-tracking the implementation of “My Health Space” with a slew of updates aimed at making it easier for community physicians and radiologists to access patient medical data securely. By 2027, these professionals will have simplified access to patients’ medical histories and imaging within a secure environment.

Encouraging Statistics

These enhancements are part of the “Ségur du numérique en santé,” a comprehensive digital health initiative funded by the state with 2 billion euros. The goal is to normalize the secure sharing of health data among healthcare providers and their patients through better integration of digital tools.

Launched three years ago, My Health Space consolidates the medical information of French citizens, including prescriptions, test results, and medical reports. Currently, adoption is on the rise, with 18 million patients, or one in four French people, having activated their health space. As of January 2025, 33.5 million documents (prescriptions, lab results, etc.) were transmitted to patients via the platform, marking a 47.5% increase compared to January 2024.

New Features for Physicians and Radiologists

The program is now entering a new phase with specific features designed to streamline the workflow for professionals. Community physicians will soon enjoy faster and more integrated access. By mid-2027, they will receive alerts when new documents are added to a patient’s health space, directly through their usual digital tools. They will also be able to quickly review test results and medical reports or effortlessly add medical data to the health space without the need to switch between multiple platforms.

For radiologists, a significant breakthrough is also expected: they will be able to access medical images stored in their professional software directly through My Health Space, without the need to duplicate these often large files. This networked system will allow them to access a patient’s imaging history, enhance their diagnoses with previous images, and reduce redundant exams, thereby avoiding unnecessary procedures for patients.

A Crucial Step for Secure Health Data Sharing

With these new features, the government hopes to streamline access to medical data, enhance coordination among healthcare professionals, and prevent the loss of crucial information.

It’s important to note that developers specializing in medical software have until mid-2026 to develop these technical solutions before a widespread rollout by mid-2027.
