WhatsApp Supercharges Stories with New Green Hearts Feature!

Keeping up with its tradition of rolling out exciting updates, WhatsApp has just revealed a new feature that will soon allow users to tag other accounts in their Status updates.

Tagging in Status Updates

As a reminder, WhatsApp’s Status functions similarly to Instagram’s Stories. Within the app, navigate to News (bottom left) and then to Status to edit your own. Users can share photos and videos temporarily with those who have their phone numbers. These contents are available for 24 hours and automatically disappear after this period.

This update now allows users to mention other WhatsApp accounts in their Status. As a result, the mentioned users can repost this status on their own accounts.

According to WhatsApp, it is now possible to write up to five usernames in each Status. It is noteworthy that you can tag someone without explicitly showing their name. Additionally, there is a new feature allowing users to like a Status – similar to Instagram, and of course, since green is the platform’s signature color, you’ll need to tap on the 💚!

Status Likes: Let someone know you’re thinking of them, or that you appreciate their status with a simple tap on the 💚 button. Status likes are private and don’t have a counter, so only the person whose status you liked can see it as a 💚 in the viewer’s list.

Other Innovations

WhatsApp is set to introduce new camera filters and backgrounds that can be used during video calls. In this update, users can look forward to twenty different effect options, but they can also unleash their creativity by creating unique filters through selecting and blending various layers.

The names hint at specific atmospheres: Warm, Cool, Black & White, Light Leak, Dreamy, Prism Light, Fisheye, Vintage TV, Frosted Glass, and Duo Tone. The backgrounds follow suit with themes like Blur, Living Room, Office, Cafe, Pebbles, Foodie, Smoosh, Beach, Sunset, Celebration, and Forest.
