Will Apple Intelligence Supercharge Pages, Numbers, and Keynote? Find Out!

Following the announcements earlier this week, Apple’s servers in Cupertino are set to remain busy. Apple has recently updated its office applications Pages, Numbers, and Keynote for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS.

A Special Update Featuring Apple Intelligence

The latest updates now support various Apple Intelligence features including the integration of ChatGPT with Siri (hopefully without causing any crashes), writing tools, and Image Playground. These features were introduced in iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2.

This update might be somewhat limited for those of us living outside the USA, particularly in Europe. However, with a few tweaks, one can still access the writing tools on the Mac.

The three applications now support writing tools for proofreading, summarizing, rewriting, and text composition, the latter leveraging ChatGPT. Siri can now use ChatGPT to answer questions about content in presentations, documents, or spreadsheets.

Pages, Numbers, and Keynote also now support Image Playground, introducing an option to create original images that can be used in iWork documents.

Which Devices are Compatible?

The goal is likely to regain some ground and enhance its native programs which have been lagging behind for years. This update positions Apple as a serious contender against popular office suites like Microsoft Office and Google Workspace by integrating AI-driven features directly into the Apple ecosystem.

All the new features require a device capable of running Apple Intelligence. This includes the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, all models of iPhone 16, Macs with an Apple Silicon chip, iPads with an Apple Silicon chip, and the iPad mini 7.
