A Processor Tailored for Mid-Range Devices
Xiaomi appears to be gearing up to launch a smartphone equipped with the Snapdragon 8s Elite, also known as the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 (SM8735). This processor, which follows the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, strikes a balance between performance and energy efficiency. Designed for mid-range devices, this chipset is more cost-effective than high-end models, albeit with slightly lower power outputs.
Large-Capacity Battery with Fast Wired Charging
The smartphone will feature a 7000 mAh battery along with a 90 W wired fast charging system. This charging technology may not be the fastest available, but it should still enable efficient recharging for such a large capacity. It’s worth mentioning that, according to leaks, wireless charging may not be an option. Xiaomi has also reportedly experimented with battery configurations up to 7500 mAh and 100 W fast charging, though it’s not confirmed if these features will be included in this model.
Potential Placement in the Redmi Line
While the model remains unidentified, clues suggest it might be part of the Redmi series, potentially named Redmi Turbo 4 Pro or Redmi K90. These speculations are supported by the appearance of the model number SM8735 in the HyperOS system earlier this year. The Redmi K80 series, set to launch on November 27 in China, includes batteries up to 6500 mAh with 120 W fast charging, suggesting a consistency within the lineup.
Xiaomi isn’t the only brand focusing on large-capacity batteries in the mid-range market. Realme, for instance, plans to introduce the Realme Neo 7 in December, which will also include a 7000 mAh battery. For comparison, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is expected to have a 4685 mAh battery.
Do such battery capacities excite you? Or do you prefer a slimmer, more aesthetically pleasing smartphone over one with longer endurance?
