Apple Set to Launch Beats-Branded USB-C Cables: Get Ready for Innovation!

Apple is gearing up to launch a new line of charging cables under the Beats brand. Product listings spotted on various retail websites in Canada and Europe indicate that these cables will be available in three types: USB-C to USB-C, USB-C to Lightning, and USB-C to USB-A. They are expected to be released around April 8, though there has been no official announcement from Apple or Beats as of now.

Technical Specifications and Compatibility

The cables will have a standard length of 1.5 meters and feature a braided design, which is intended to prevent tangling and enhance durability. This is in line with the current trend for Apple accessories, which emphasizes strength and practicality. The cables will be available in three colors: Bolt Black, Surge Stone, and Rapid Red. They will be sold in packs of one or two cables, suggesting Apple’s intention to diversify its range of accessories not only for its own product users but also for devices that support Android.

Technically, the USB-C to USB-C model will support fast charging up to 60 W and data transfer using USB 2.0, with a maximum speed of 480 Mbps. These cables are compatible with a wide range of devices, especially smartphones, tablets, and computers that have USB-C ports, as well as Beats accessories.

For instance, the USB-C to USB-C cable can be used to charge compatible Beats headphones or speakers while simultaneously streaming audio, including lossless audio quality. However, the necessary USB-C power adapter for fast charging will not be included in the packs, which is not surprising.

As for the USB-C to Lightning and USB-C to USB-A cables, detailed technical specifications have not been released yet, but they are expected to offer similar durability and compatibility features, primarily aimed at Apple device users.

Not Cheap

The price for the USB-C to USB-C model is listed at approximately 24.95 Canadian dollars, which is likely to be just under 20 euros or US dollars. This pricing puts them in a relatively high range, although they are likely to be of high quality.

It appears that Apple is aiming to expand its range of Beats-branded accessories to enhance the brand’s appeal to its users. Since acquiring Beats in 2014, Apple has gradually been integrating this brand into its offerings, particularly through accessories like iPhone cases, which I use daily and find excellent.

Currently, these cables are still not listed on the Apple Store online, and we will need to wait for an official announcement to confirm their availability.
