The renowned Chinese drone manufacturer offers the DJI Mini 3, a more accessible version of its compact drone that does not require registration or administrative procedures thanks to its C0 classification (like other models in DJI’s mini range, it weighs less than 250 grams).

To slightly reduce the cost of this DJI Mini 3, the manufacturer had to make some compromises. Compared to the DJI Mini 3 Pro, this version retains the 1/1.3″ CMOS sensor with an f/1.7 aperture but is limited to 12-megapixel shots (as opposed to 48 megapixels for its predecessor), records in 4K at 30 frames per second (compared to 4K at 60 frames per second on the Pro), has a maximum range (according to the legislation in the user’s country) of 10 km instead of 12, and a definition of DJI OcuSync 2.0 transmission in 720p rather than 1080p as with OcuSync 3.0.
Furthermore, the DJI Mini 3 does not include front and rear obstacle detection and avoidance (downward detection is still included, necessary for landing). The new model even boasts an increased battery life of 38 minutes, compared to 34 minutes for the Pro and 31 for the recent Mini 4K. This is always a bonus, as available flight time is never quite enough.
