As Apple continues to skimp on the base storage of its products in 2025 (a rather sad tale), it might be wise to wait for great deals to purchase a fast, durable, and compact external SSD. Such is the case today with the Samsung T7 Shield model.
Just a reminder, the Shield variant of the highly satisfactory Samsung T7 SSD, consistently delivers speeds of up to 1,050 MB/s via USB-C 3.2 Gen2 10 Gb/s, but also offers added durability. The SSD is indeed capable of withstanding a fall from up to three meters and boasts an IP65 rating against water and dust damage.
A Fast and Durable SSD
The size remains compact with dimensions of 8.9 x 5.84 x 1.27 centimeters, making it easy to carry on the go, and its durability will reassure adventurers (or the clumsiest among us). This SSD, which we happily use daily at the office, is fast enough (speeds reach about 1 GB/s on an Intel Mac and about 800 MB/s on an Apple Silicon Mac) to work on an external volume, whether it’s on a Mac, an iPad, or an iPhone.
