Harry Potter series casting expands for HBO Max

When news broke that the wizarding world would return to our screens, longtime fans rejoiced at the prospect of reliving Hogwarts memories. Now, HBO has confirmed that this return will span seven seasons, adapting one book per season, and filming will begin in summer 2025 at Leavesden Studios¹.

At the Helm

Francesca Gardiner—known for her writing on Succession and His Dark Materials—was officially tapped in June 2024 as showrunner and executive producer². She’ll guide viewers back to Privet Drive and the Great Hall, balancing nostalgia for original films with fresh storytelling for new audiences.
