iOS 18 Update: Ticketmaster Tickets Soon in Your Wallet!

With iOS 18, tickets for shows or events will be available in the Wallet app on the iPhone, featuring a brand-new design that highlights key information. Taking advantage of this, Ticketmaster will be the first company to implement this feature.

A Fresh New Design

In practice, the tickets will provide more detailed information about an event, including a map of the venue, parking details, recommended Apple Music playlists, local weather forecasts from the Weather app, and quick access to location sharing. Additionally, it will be possible to add links to apps or websites, such as those of sports teams involved in a game.

The first event to benefit from this system will be a Los Angeles FC game at BMO Stadium on Saturday, October 19. This will be available provided you have installed the iOS 18 app, and of course, the Ticketmaster or LAFC apps. The new digital tickets will be rolled out more broadly in 2025.

Impacting 560 Million Users

Ticketmaster has not dwelt much on another topic that has recently made headlines: its massive data breach. The infamous hacker group ShinyHunters claimed in May 2024 to have bypassed the security of Ticketmaster-Live Nation, accessing personal data of 560 million users, totaling 1.3 terabytes, which are now being offered for sale on Breach Forums for a fixed price of half a million dollars (about 460,000 euros). It’s important to note that the stolen data included names, addresses, phone numbers, and some details of customers’ credit cards.

The group, whose name refers to Pokémon, became known in 2020 when it posted information about clients from around sixty companies (including Microsoft, Github, Vinted, and AT&T), accounting for nearly 400 million data breaches. The cybercrime section of the FBI (the Seattle Cyber Task Force) conducted a two-year-long investigation, which led to the identification of several individuals, including three French nationals. Just this January, one of them, Sébastien Raoult, was sentenced to three years in prison and five million dollars by a Seattle Court.
