Is Your Baldur’s Gate 3 Save Data at Risk on Xbox?

Baldur’s Gate 3, the highly-anticipated title in a venerated RPG franchise, made its debut on PC on August 3, 2021, marking over two decades since the release of its predecessor, Baldur’s Gate 2: Shadow of Amn.

Launch and Early Access

Arriving on the scene in early access as of October 2020, Larian Studios was responsible for the launch of this game. A few months later, Baldur’s Gate 3 graced the PS5 platform, followed by its Xbox version released on December 8, 2021.

Limited Features and Bug Issues

One disadvantage to note is that due to the constraints of the hardware, the Xbox Series S version does not support local split-screen co-op. Furthermore, the Xbox version is not without its flaws. A pesky bug in the firmware has been causing player’s save data to be unintentionally erased. Despite attempts to rectify this issue, it unfortunately resurfaced.

Solution for Save Data Issue

Not to leave the players in the lurch, Larian Studios provided a temporary workaround to this problem. Players can safeguard their game progress by creating a Larian account and linking it to their Xbox account. Enabling cross-save results in the most recent five saves being automatically uploaded and kept safe for recovery purposes.

Awards and Community Engagement

Baldur’s Gate 3 was acknowledged and awarded for its successful engagement with the player community at the Game Awards. To keep players informed, Larian Studios keeps the lines of communication open with regular updates.

Upcoming Deluxe Edition

In other news, plans have been unveiled for a physical Deluxe edition of Baldur’s Gate 3. With an expected launch in the first quarter, this version will be available for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC at a price of 79,99 euros, not including shipping costs. For the PC version of the Deluxe edition, players can look forward to an installation disk and an activation key included in the package.
