A Single App for All Things Nintendo
The app serves as a one-stop platform for users to stay updated on the latest news from the brand, upcoming game releases, online events, Nintendo Direct presentations, and other content related to the company’s major franchises.
Once logged into their Nintendo account, it functions somewhat like a social network for gamers / fans. Here, users gain access to a personalized news feed featuring videos, images, announcements, and various content from the Nintendo universe.
The app also includes a Calendar tab, which chronologically lists upcoming game releases, in-game events, upcoming broadcasts, and key moments related to the publisher. It’s worth noting that an iPhone home screen widget is also available on iOS, allowing for a quick view of the Nintendo calendar directly from the main screen of the iPhone.
A Customizable Experience
Users can tailor their experience based on their favorite franchises. They can filter news by franchise (Super Mario, Animal Crossing, The Legend of Zelda, Splatoon, etc.), and apply specific visual themes to reflect their preferences. The aim is to offer a more immersive and engaging experience around the Nintendo universe, without relying on third-party channels or manual searches.
Alongside product news, the app will also play a crucial role in communications about Nintendo’s next console, currently rumored to be called Switch 2
. The manufacturer seems to be strengthening its direct connection with its users in anticipation of upcoming hardware announcements, both to tease and to entice potential buyers.
Available now, Nintendo Today! positions itself as a centralized hub for fans, as well as a strategic loyalty tool as the launch of its next-generation console approaches.
