A Handle That Doubles as a Vertical Stand
After years of focusing on aesthetic variations, PopSockets has finally introduced a significant functional innovation to its lineup: a hinge that turns the accessory into a vertical stand. The new Kick-Out Grip and Stand allows users to set their smartphones in portrait mode, which is ideal for video calls or scrolling through TikTok hands-free. The design remains sleek, adding only a slight increase in bulk compared to previous MagSafe models.
MagSafe, Qi2, or Adhesive: Compatible with Nearly Everything
Primarily designed for recent iPhones that support MagSafe, the Kick-Out also works with Android smartphones that use the new Qi2 standard and its magnetic system. For devices that do not have this feature, an adhesive adapter is included, broadening the compatibility to nearly all models, even older ones or those with thick cases. This might seem like a minor detail, but it truly makes the product universal. In fact, I’m using one on my Google Pixel 8 Pro.
Customizable Design and Exclusive Finishes
The grip is detachable: it can be unscrewed and replaced with another design, similar to previous models. PopSockets offers the Kick-Out in several standard colors (black, latte, putty, dusk).
This type of accessory can be very handy, but it had started to become a problem for iPhone users who were losing wireless charging capabilities through MagSafe. With this new model, you simply remove it to use a wireless charger. In return, it provides a better grip and a genuine stand functionality.
The very first PopSockets enabled an iPhone 4 to stand vertically using two grips attached to a case. Fifteen years later, the concept has come full circle with a more modernized and practical version. At $39.99, the Kick-Out is somewhat pricey for a simple accessory, but it offers more features than previous versions. I’ll provide feedback as soon as I receive the model I just ordered!
