Proton Mail Unveils New Interface & Offline Mode for iPhone Users!

Proton Mail, the encrypted email service, has just rolled out a significant update to its mobile app. Now available on both iOS and Android, the update features a completely redesigned interface and introduces an offline mode that allows users to read, compose, and organize emails without an internet connection.

A Modernized and Faster Interface

First off, the button to compose messages has moved from the upper right corner to the bottom of the screen, making it easier to access with one hand on a smartphone. Proton also claims that everyday actions such as scrolling, archiving, and replying are now twice as fast as before. This enhancement aims to provide a smoother experience in comparison to well-established competitors like Apple Mail and Gmail.

Offline Mode

The update also introduces an offline mode: users can now check their inbox, sort their emails, and even write messages offline. Sending and synchronization occur automatically once the connection is restored. This feature is particularly handy when traveling, in transit, or in areas with weak network coverage.

Another significant advance: the iOS and Android versions of Proton Mail now share 80% of their code. This results in quicker updates and improved functional parity between the two platforms.

For Android users, the redesign also brings two tools previously exclusive to iOS: the ability to schedule email sending and the snooze function, which allows postponing the handling of a message to view it later.

A Secure Alternative to Gmail and Apple Mail

Based in Switzerland, Proton Mail focuses on privacy: it offers end-to-end encryption, protection against tracking, and servers located in Europe.

The app offers a free plan that includes an email address and 1 GB of storage, with paid plans available to unlock more features. Proton Mail is available for free download now on the App Store and Google Play Store.
