Unlock ChatGPT Premium for Over $200 a Month!

With Pulse, OpenAI enhances ChatGPT with more proactive features, even while you sleep. Currently exclusive to Pro subscribers, this feature generates customized reports overnight to keep users updated first thing in the morning.

ChatGPT: Available Around the Clock

OpenAI continues its mission to transform ChatGPT into a full-fledged personal assistant. Its latest feature, named Pulse, automatically compiles personalized reports as the user sleeps—somewhat akin to iOS’s notification summary system. Upon waking, users are greeted with memos that may include news summaries, activity suggestions, and an overview of emails and their calendar.

The goal is clear: to prompt subscribers to check ChatGPT right when they wake up, just as they would browse a news feed or messaging app. Fidji Simo, the new CEO of applications at OpenAI, outlines the vision: We aim to provide a level of support previously only affordable to the wealthy. Pulse is the first step.

Initially Available to Pro Subscribers

For now, Pulse is available only to Pro subscribers, who pay $200 a month, due to the computational power required to generate these reports. OpenAI plans to eventually roll out the feature to Plus subscribers and then to the general public, once the technology is more refined.

Each report is presented as a set of cards, illustrated with AI-generated images. Users can click to expand a brief, pose questions to ChatGPT, or request additional reports. Notably, Pulse concludes after a few summaries with a message, Great, that’s it for today. This is a deliberate effort to differentiate from social networks, which often aim to maximize engagement without bounds.

Integration with Personal Apps

Pulse can link with Google Calendar and Gmail through ChatGPT’s Connectors. It can then offer a schedule for the day, highlight crucial emails, or plan trips based on detected preferences. With ChatGPT’s memory activated, Pulse personalizes further: suggesting running routes for athletic users, or tailored menus for specific diets, etc.

With this approach, OpenAI is encroaching on the territory of news apps like Apple News, paid newsletters, and even traditional journalism. Although Pulse cites its sources and includes links, its role as a personalized news filter raises questions about its legitimacy as a new gateway to information.

For now, Pulse remains a super intelligent assistant. However, OpenAI is already planning to expand its capabilities: booking restaurants, drafting emails, and even proactively managing daily tasks. It’s a distant future, but it offers a glimpse of the potential role AI could play in our lives.
