Samsung has urgently halted the global rollout of its One UI 7 update after discovering a bug that prevents some users from unlocking their smartphones. Another issue related to the security of private folders has also been identified.

An Anticipated Update Turns Problematic
Samsung has recently paused the global deployment of One UI 7, its update based on Android 15. The decision was triggered by a glitch reported by several South Korean users, most notably on the Galaxy S24, who found themselves unable to unlock their devices post-update, which is quite problematic.
The news was initially shared by the leaker Ice Universe, and was later confirmed by various user forums and observers. Following these reports, the update files were removed from Samsung’s OTA servers. As of now, the company has not officially commented on this suspension or offered a solution for the affected users.
The rollout began on April 7 in some countries and by April 10 in the United States, initially affecting Galaxy S24, Z Fold 6, and Z Flip 6 models. However, the update, which was already delayed for several months, has now seen its launch jeopardized.
A Second Bug Affects the “Secure Folder”
Another problem was identified in the Secure Folder feature: private content, meant to be confined within this protected space, was found visible via the “Stories” feature in the gallery.
Specifically, when a user automatically creates a Story in the gallery using photos from the Secure Folder, a notification of this Story appears outside of the secure space. This could potentially allow unauthorized individuals to see a preview of files meant to remain private. Once again, Samsung has not officially responded.
Until a corrective update is issued, it is advised to disable the automatic creation of Stories from the gallery settings within the Secure Folder to prevent any surprises.
What Now?
If you haven’t yet received One UI 7, that’s because the update files have been pulled from the servers in all countries, including models using Snapdragon processors. This pause might also affect the rollout schedule planned for other models such as the Galaxy S23.
No resumption date has been announced. In the meantime, it’s best not to force the installation through unofficial means. Don’t play with fire.

It’s unclear how long this pause will last. Given the severity of the bug, one can assume that Samsung will want to take its time to avoid another mishap.
