Get Beats Pill 2024 for $129.99!
To give you a quick refresher, the latest iteration of Beats’ Bluetooth speaker, the Pill+, debuted in 2015 and was discontinued in 2022 before making sporadic returns through collaborations with such brands as clothing maker Stüssy and Book Projects by NBA star Devin Booker. Beats took its time in revealing this thoroughly revamped 2024 version. For this launch, Beats even brought back a fictional character to promote the new speaker!
This new Pill 2024 model showcases a novel ‘racetrack’ speaker (an oval shape reminiscent of American race tracks) with a reinforced diaphragm and a larger magnet, which, according to Beats, ensures a much improved sound quality and the ability to play at high volumes with less distortion (the woofer moves 90% more air than the previous generation, eliminating the need for a passive radiator), along with a new tweeter. This setup results in a monophonic output, but it’s possible to pair two Beats Pills to achieve stereo sound (a double mono ‘Amplification’ mode is also available once the speakers are paired).
The speaker features a USB-C port not only for charging but also to power up another device and to enjoy lossless audio via a wired connection (note that stereo pairing is not available in wired mode). The speakers are slightly angled to enhance positioning relative to the listener, and the device is IP67 certified, making it a worry-free companion for the beach or pool.
The Beats Pill 2024, which you can read about in our review, includes a microphone for calls and voice assistants, Bluetooth 5.3 with SBC and AAC codecs, connects effortlessly to both Apple and Android devices, supports location services from both ecosystems, features buttons for various controls, comes with a carrying strap, and offers up to 24 hours of battery life.
