A Supercharged Antenna for Professionals in Harsh Conditions
SpaceX is enhancing its Starlink lineup with a new offering called the Performance Kit, a premium version of its satellite antenna geared towards intense professional use. Priced at $1,999, this model is built to withstand the toughest environments: winds exceeding 270 km/h, extreme temperatures ranging from -40°C to +60°C, military-grade impacts, and vibrations on construction sites or in moving vehicles. It’s clearly intended for field professionals, from construction to agricultural operations, and maritime missions.
A Robust Connection, Ready for Gigabit
Upon activation, the Performance Kit delivers download speeds over 400 Mbps, significantly outperforming the standard and Mini Starlink kits. But SpaceX is already promising an upgrade to gigabit speeds in 2026 through simple software updates, without needing new hardware.
This future capability is based on the forthcoming deployment of the V3 constellation, carried by Starship rockets currently in testing. Meanwhile, users can benefit from hardware that’s already overqualified for heavy-duty usage.
Designed to Last, No Matter the Circumstances
The specifications are indeed impressive: powder-coated aluminum, an IP69K protection rating, 10-year resistance to salt corrosion, the ability to melt 5 cm of snow per hour, reinforced connectors, and a hybrid AC/DC power supply. The kit even includes a power supply with integrated diagnostics and high-power PoE output. All this comes with a three-year warranty, compared to one year for standard models. And for the skeptics: SpaceX has released videos showing the dish enduring vibrations from a Falcon 9 landing on a barge.
A Hefty Price Tag
Budget-wise, it’s a significant investment: $2,049 including fees, with plans ranging from $65/month for 50 GB to $540/month for 2 TB. These plans are clearly designed for professionals with critical local connectivity needs, often in remote areas. While the price might deter individual consumers, field professionals will see it as a comprehensive, durable, and scalable tool for the decade.
