Anker Solarbank 3 Pro

With the Solix Solarbank 3 Pro system, Anker continues to smartly expand its solar storage solutions.

This new connected battery offers numerous solar inputs and an impressive output power (1200W) while providing great flexibility in terms of storage and scalability.

For the French market, it would have been useful to introduce a clustering system (like Zendure’s ZenLink) that allows multiple Solarbanks to operate in parallel, thereby increasing the output power. In this regard, Zendure is more effective in supporting household appliances that require between 2000 and 4000W (ovens, water heaters, hair dryers…). However, Anker has promised the ability to connect 4 Solarbanks in parallel soon, achieving a maximum capacity of 64.5 kWh and an output power of 4.8 kW, with 14.4 kW of MPPT!

Another concern is that if storage is insufficient, the battery will quickly fill up and the solar energy will be limited to 1200W, with the risk of losing power in the process. It’s surprising that in France, the system cannot slightly exceed 1200W, as the electrical wiring can easily handle 8 to 10A on a single circuit.

Finally, in terms of energy strategy, Anker offers some of the best solutions on the market, with night-time charging management coupled with smart daytime discharging thanks to its smart-meter (at Zendure, you still have to choose one of these strategies depending on the season).

Conversely, the integrated AI didn’t quite win us over… for now. As time goes on and updates are released, it’s possible the manufacturer might revise their approach, as they have with previous systems.

It’s also worth noting the backward compatibility of the extension batteries is highly appreciated, even though networking across different generations of the Solix system is still not possible.

Ultimately, it’s particularly disappointing that the pricing isn’t more competitive compared to Zendure, whose new 3kWh battery is priced at $819 each, bringing the cost per stored kWh to about $273, which is less than 5 cents per kWh.
