During the American Film Festival in Deauville, the manufacturer teamed up with the event and offered visitors and participants a chance to experience this extraordinary device, a treat for all big-screen film enthusiasts.
This year, after a tough competition, Kristen Stewart was awarded the Deauville Festival’s Breakthrough Award for her directorial debut, The Chronology of Water.
Following the awards, attendees gathered for a party nearby and had the opportunity to see the VisionMaster Max in action.
Valerion Lights Up the Deauville Festival
The projector, housed in a photographic chamber-like casing on a tripod, delivers superb image quality with a RGB laser source, a brightness of 3500 ISO lumens, and a mechanical IRIS system to ensure deep blacks. Having tested it, even during the day, the image quality is truly impressive.
The interchangeable lens system allows it to adapt to any room size. With its standard lens, it can project a large image from a short distance, perfect for an apartment. With an optional secondary lens, it can be positioned much farther from the screen, suitable for a larger room. Valerion has even planned an “open mount” that will eventually allow the use of lenses from other brands.
Another major technological promise of the VisionMaster Max is the nearly complete elimination of the “rainbow effect.” This phenomenon, typical of DLP projectors, appears as brief colored fringes visible to some people, especially in high-contrast scenes. Valerion claims that its new “Anti-RBE” technology eradicates 99.99% of these artifacts. Indeed, it’s impossible to spot any rainbows during the projection!
We also took a look at the new operating system based on Google TV, compatible with major smart home ecosystems, including Apple HomeKit. The interface was much more intuitive than previous generations, similar to what you see on modern SmartTVs. Plus, you can connect it to an Apple TV or a gaming console, essentially any video source.
Catering to a Discerning Clientele
Videos were projected on a screen over 3 meters diagonally during the evening, and the 4K image provided an unprecedented level of contrast and quality for such a focal length.
The price tag of €4,999 did not seem to deter those who witnessed the VisionMaster Max in action that evening, including Bilal Hassani, a jury member this year.
