Netgear is transitioning to Wi-Fi 7 (or 802.11be) with the Orbi 970, a next-generation technology poised to significantly enhance wireless network performance while reducing latency. Indeed, Wi-Fi 7 is expected to considerably outperform its predecessors by using the same number of antennas and frequency bands (2.4/5 and 6 GHz) as Wi-Fi 6/Wi-Fi 6E, but with channels up to 320 MHz, compared to 160 MHz for the previous standard.
Ultimately, this means theoretical speeds exceeding 40 Gbps, comparable to Thunderbolt 4, thus offering a viable wireless alternative to current wired technologies such as USB, Thunderbolt, or Ethernet.
